First Panera Bread in Rhode Island to Move Down the Road to Larger Chapel View Space in September

 

LINCOLN, RI — Anticipation is “rising” as the Panera Bread at 5 New London Ave. in Cranston, the first Panera bakery-cafe to be built in Rhode Island, prepares to relocate a couple blocks away to the brand new first floor space of Building 4000 at Chapel View in mid- to late-September.  The new bakery-cafe will be only the second Panera in the state to feature a Drive-Thru.

“The Cranston cafe is extra special to us.  It was the first one opened by our franchise and the first Panera built in the state,” said Bahjat Shariff, Vice President and Operating Partner for Panera Bread/Howley Bread Group based in Lincoln, Rhode Island.  “It has been one of our more successful cafes for a long time so we are thrilled to be able to expand down the street with a newer cafe plus a Drive-Thru for our customers to enjoy.”

The move will represent 25 new jobs for the Cranston area. Like the existing Panera cafe in Cranston, the new location will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and offer a variety of menu items, including breads and bagels, breakfast sandwiches, creative lunch and dinner sandwiches, pastas, hand-tossed salads, homemade soups and a variety of espresso beverages.

The Panera Bread Cranston location is one of eight bakery-cafes in Rhode Island owned by Panera franchise, the Howley Bread Group, LTD of Lincoln, Rhode Island.  The company’s other Panera bakery-cafes in the state, which employ more then 500 people, are located in East Greenwich, Lincoln, Newport, Providence, Smithfield, Wakefield and Warwick.  Howley Bread Group owns and operates a total of twenty-eight bakery-cafes in Rhode Island, Southeastern Massachusetts and Eastern Connecticut markets.
