First of 3 Workshops to Focus on Turning Ideas into a Business

PROVIDENCE, RI – The RI Business Plan Competition will host the first of three free workshops on Wed., Jan. 8, that will help determine if an idea has potential as a business.

The workshop will be held 5:30 – 7 p.m. at Betaspring, 95 Chestnut St., Providence.

A panel of experienced business developers will explore:

  • The difference between a project and a product/service
  • How to determine the financial feasibility of your idea
  • How to get started

More Workshops in February and March

Two additional free workshops will be held in advance of the March 31 deadline to apply to the 2014 RI Business Plan Competition. They will focus on:

  • How to structure and write a business plan
  • How to present a business plan to investors

Anyone may attend, and many people use the workshops to help them develop their business idea and then decide to apply to the competition.

When to Apply for the 2014 Competition

Applications to the 2014 RI Business Plan Competition are being accepted through March 31. It is advisable to work on your plan first and adapt it for your application.

The judges determine semi-finalists based on the applications. It’s only when you have been selected as a semi-finalist that the judges ask for your full plan. Tips on applying.
