Exploration Center and Aquarium welcomes November with “Outrageous Octopus” theme

NEWPORT, RI –After weeks of pumpkin picking, hayrides, and spooky happenings, it’s time to celebrate November, and there’s no better way than to visit Save the Bay’sExploration Center and Aquarium at Easton’s Beach Rotunda, 175 Memorial Boulevard in Newport RI, on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. The November theme at the aquarium is the “Outrageous Octopus,” because November is when the eight-legged creatures return to Narragansett Bay after spending summer in the cooler, deeper waters of the Rhode Island Sound and Atlantic Ocean.

The Aquarium will also be open on Veteran’s Day, November 11, with half-price admission for active-duty military and veterans. Save The Bay will also offer military service members and veterans discounted family memberships, which includes unlimited free admission to the Exploration Center & Aquarium for two adults and four children, as well as member rates on seal tours, summer camps, Save The Bay swag, and other goodies.

“This is a great time of the year to visit the aquarium, because the beach is far less crowded than in the summer,” says Adam Kovarsky, Save The Bay’s exploration center manager. Kovarsky has planned a full schedule of octopus-centered activities for November: including “Story Time: Oozy Octopus” at 11 a.m., “Octopus Feeding” at noon, an “Octopus scavenger hunt” for 1:00 p.m., “Creature feature” at 2 p.m., and, weather permitting, a beach walk at 3 p.m.
