Excellence in Innovation

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI – The Hive RI won the Excellence in Innovation Award on Jan. 31. at the 2014 Chamber Choice Awards. Southern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce presents the award annually in recognition of new businesses who contribute economic growth within Rhode Island communities.

Nominated by the Chamber Board of Directors, The Hive received first place for its innovating approach towards office collaboration.

Chamber members nominated their favorites, and Chamber board members voted for winners in each category. Director of Mission Development Elizabeth Berman administered and supervised this system with the assistance of the event planning committee

Founded by Tuni Schartner, Larry Zevon, and Mike Baker, The Hive is a collaborative, community-based co-working facility at the Lafayette Mills complex in North Kingston, RI. They offer a productive co-working environment; have events with guest speakers, and lunch days for a chance to share business ideas.

Other nominees in the Excellence in Innovation category were Marianne Apice at The Village at South County Commons, Charlie Donadio at Rhode Island Fast Ferry, and the URI Business Engagement Center.

We are all about community and collaboration at The Hive RI, as well as promoting balance by providing easy access to beautiful wooded trails, a soothing waterfall and art in an exciting working environment.
