Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Launches New Pharmacy Division; Appoints Glen Bianchini as Chief Pharmacy Officer

Villanova, PA – April 13, 2020 – Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health, one of the nation’s oldest and largest nonprofit providers of behavioral healthcare, today announced the launch of a new, integrated pharmacy aimed at improving overall safety and quality for the individuals it serves, and as a means to increase the salaries of its front-line staff.

“Devereux’s multiphase organizational redesign effort, along with its strategic plan, included the creation of an integrated pharmacy division to enhance our programs and services, and support our organization’s long-standing and deep-rooted mission to unlock and nurture human potential for people living with emotional, behavioral and cognitive differences,” said Devereux President and CEO Carl E. Clark II. “Our new pharmacy division will be built upon the strong foundation and success of our Devereux Texas pharmacy, established in 1992, which is currently under the direction of Executive Director Pam Reed.”

By taking this innovative approach to pharmacy operations, Clark noted, “We will: 1) enrich Devereux’s medication management services and clinical/regulatory excellence across all campuses; and 2) recapture dispensing fees, enabling us to redirect savings into our ongoing initiative to increase the salaries of front-line staff, including direct support professionals and supervisors.”

As part of this launch, Clark appointed Glen Bianchini, RPh, M.S., as Devereux’s chief pharmacy officer, effective immediately. In this new role, Bianchini will lead Devereux’s enterprise-wide strategy related to pharmacy operations and medication management services across the organization’s continuum of care. Specifically, he will be responsible for regulatory compliance, clinical excellence, fiscal performance, pharmaceutical purchasing, pharmacy clinical practice, transitions of care, and the development and implementation of operational and clinical growth opportunities.

“Glen, who brings more than 30 years of proven healthcare and pharmacy leadership experience to this position, will help implement our strategy for Devereux’s pharmacy division, which includes growing and developing outpatient/retail pharmacy, specialty pharmacy and ambulatory/clinic services,” he added. “I am excited to welcome Glen as a member of our leadership team – and to the Devereux family as a whole.”
