Graduation Ball is a one-act ballet originally choreographed by David Lichine to music composed by Johann Strauss II. The Original Ballet Russe at the Theatre Royal, Sydney, Australia first presented it on March 1, 1940. Artistic Director and Choreographer Herci Marsden premiered her Graduation Ball in Rhode Island in November of 1978. The bright and lively Graduation Ball is set in a formal drawing room of a fashionable finishing school for girls during the 1840’s. Read the synopsis here >> |

Ballet West
premiered in RI in 2004 and is choreographed by Ana Marsden. The work features music by Aaron Copland, excerpts from Appalachian Spring, Rodeo, and Billy the Kid.
Welcome to the dynamic and lively old west! Ballet West is a one-act ballet piece complete with traditional and ethnic folk dances that will take you on an American journey through the early 1900’s. ![]() |

Dance of the Firefly On May 30th, 2013 the world premiere ballet, ‘Dance of the Firefly’ took the outdoor stage at The State Ballet of Rhode Island’s 10th Annual Partner with the Arts event in Lincoln, RI. Accompanied by live musical performance, Rhode Island Composer Noreen Inglesi’s musical score came to life through a ballet created by SBRI Resident Choreographer Shana Fox Marceau.

Ballet World Premiere:Heghnar & Buck
Be the first to see the world premiere ballet of ‘Heghnar and Buck’ choreographed by Ana Marsden Fox and composed by Noreen Inglesi. Both Rhode Island residents and educators, Marsden Fox and Inglesi will take audiences into the forest for a glimpse of nature’s beautiful sights and sounds . Young audiences will enjoy the music inspired by nature in our state, which, in turn, inspired art for our state.

Ballet World Premiere: TRAIN Be the first to see this world premiere ballet of ‘Train’ choreographed by SBRI Principal Dancer and Resident Choreographer, Mark Marsden. All aboard for this journey back into the late 1940’s with a soundtrack of familiar tunes with a classical twist. This piece is sure to connect with audiences of various generations and ballet-lovers alike. |
