Congressman Jim Langevin Honors Judith McSoley as an Angel in Adoption™ To Be Recognized at National Event in Washington, DC

WARWICK, RI – Congressman Jim Langevin has selected Warwick resident, Judith McSoley of Adoption Rhode Island as a 2015 Angels in Adoption^™ awardee for her outstanding advocacy for permanency children in foster. The Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI), which orchestrates the Angels in Adoption^™ program, will honor Adoption Rhode Island at an awards ceremony and gala on October 7, 2015 in Washington, DC.

Judy is a strong long-time advocate for permanency for children and youth in foster care. As an adoptive parent and grandparent, Judith knows the importance of family for all children. Judith has worked for more than 30 years in the child welfare field. She has helped find families for hundreds of children and has provided services and supports to families that have adopted. Judith has coordinated Rhode Island’s Heart Gallery project for 10 years and is always excited to let people know that more than 50% of the children that participate in the gallery are matched with people in the community interested in adopting or mentoring a child in foster care. Judith has led an adoptive mom’s support group for more than 5 years. She is passionate about children in foster care and takes every opportunity she can to speak to business owners, media and other community members to let them know that there are children in need in our community. Judith truly is an angel in adoption.

The Angels in Adoption^™ program is CCAI’s signature public awareness campaign and provides an opportunity for all members of the U.S. Congress to honor the good work of their constituents who have enriched the lives of foster children and orphans in the United States and abroad. Each year, more than 140 Angels are honored through the Angels in Adoption^™ program.

The Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI) is a 501(c)3 nonpartisan organization dedicated to raising awareness about the tens of thousands of orphans and foster children in the United States and the millions of orphans around the world in need of permanent, safe, and loving homes through adoption. CCAI’s goal is the elimination of the barriers that hinder these children from realizing their basic right of a family.

CCAI was created in 2001 by the active co-chairs of the bicameral, bipartisan Congressional Coalition on Adoption to more effectively raise Congressional and public awareness about adoption.

The Angels in Adoption^™ program was established in 1999 as a Congressional press conference to honor outstanding individuals. Since then, the program has developed into a yearlong public awareness campaign culminating in an extraordinary awards gala and celebration in Washington, DC.
