Child & Family Completes Search For CEO

PROVIDENCE, RI – In June of this year Peter Dibari, President and CEO of Child & Family for the past 35 years announced his retirement at the end of 2013. At that time, Donald McCall, Chairman of Child & Family’s Board of Directors, indicated that the Board of Directors goal was to find a candidate that will continue the Child & Family tradition of providing innovative and superior social services to our community.  Today, Child & Family is pleased to announce that Martin Sinnott has agreed to accept the position of President and CEO beginning in January 2014.

McCall said “After a national search, our search committee was unanimous in our choice of Marty.  Our search committee was struck by how his energy and commitment to building a strong community was so in line with what we have come to expect from Child & Family.”

Sinnott said he is “very excited to join with the Board, staff, community leaders and supporters of Child and Family to strengthen families and communities in Rhode Island.  Child and Family has a rich history of innovation, partnerships with the public and nonprofit sectors, and community engagement which I will build upon.  I hope that my passion, knowledge and experience will be important ingredients to the strategic future and success of the organization.  It is an honor and privilege to serve in the role of CEO.”

Sinnott joins Child and Family with a 30-year background in human services and nonprofit administration.  His key career accomplishments have included creating innovative programs, building organizational capacity, and influencing public policy. He served for 18 years as the CEO and President of One Hope United, a national human service organization, and The Youth Campus in Park Ridge, IL.  He also held senior administrative and direct service positions in the public child welfare sector for more than a decade. Most recently, he served as the CEO of Amigos de las Americas, an international non-profit with 25 chapters in the U.S. and projects in 10 Latin American countries.

Sinnott holds both undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Chicago.  He and his wife Janet have three wonderful young adult children.
