Child & Family CEO Plans to Retire at Close of 2013

CRANSTON, RI – Peter DiBari, President and CEO of Child & Family, has formally announced plans to retire at the end of 2013.  Donald McCall, Chairman of Child & Family’s Board of Directors, made the announcement public in a letter to community donors, businesses, and state leaders this week.

Peter DiBari has been President and CEO of Child & Family for 33 years, during which time, his vision and management has helped grow Child & Family from a small community agency into one of the largest and most comprehensive nonprofit social service providers in the state.  In the announcement letter, McCall noted that “the success of any organization is reached by the result of a clear vision of what you want to accomplish and having the people in place to achieve that vision.  Over the years Peter has been able to do both.”  He went on to state that Peter DiBari has provided a clear vision of the path that Child & Family should travel, and has surrounded himself with talented people to allow the organization to reach that destination.

During his tenure, Peter DiBari and the agency’s management team have solidified Child & Family’s place as the cornerstone of services for individuals and families on Aquidneck Island while expanding to become a leader for new and innovative programming to support the needs of children and families throughout the state.  Peter DiBari will be leaving behind an organization with a rich history of success and a management team that is truly special.

In order to prepare for Child & Family’s transfer of leadership, its Board of Directors has established a search process that is transparent, inclusive and anchored in best practices.  A Search Committee has been formed and has engaged the services of a well-respected search firm specializing in non-profit national searches.  The goal of the Board of Directors is to find a candidate that will continue the Child & Family tradition of providing innovative and superior social services to our community while continuing to expand our presence and programming throughout the state. To ensure the success of the transition, DiBari has agreed to aid as needed during the transition period.
