PROVIDENCE, RI – With construction moving along on schedule, Bank Rhode Island (BankRI) is getting closer to opening its new Wakefield branch. The new branch, which will be located at 290 Main Street, is expected to open in mid-May.
“This project is one that BankRI has been working on for a while and it’s very exciting to see us approaching the finish line,” said Mark J. Meiklejohn, President and CEO of BankRI. “We are eager to support the financial needs of both individuals and businesses while becoming further involved in the community.”
The land for the new branch, the long-empty Wakefield Station site, had previously been one of the largest remaining plots in downtown Wakefield available for development. Once completed, BankRI’s Wakefield branch, its 19th in Rhode Island, will be a 4,600 square foot, two-story bank with drive-thru banking capabilities, a drive-thru ATM and 16 parking spaces.
It will also feature private offices and meeting space dedicated to housing BankRI investment, mortgage, commercial and business financial spets.
Upon the branch’s opening, BankRI will work closely with local businesses to incorporate them into a range of grand opening promotions. Members of the community can expect to receive a special BankRI mailing in early spring.
“We take great pride in becoming the bank of choice for customers seeking the personal attention only a local bank can provide—and that’s exactly why we want to include the community in our opening, “ added Meiklejohn.
