PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Joined by leadership from the Town of South Kingstown and its business community, Bank Rhode Island (BankRI) celebrated the opening of their new Wakefield branch with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting on Friday, May 23.

The new branch, which is BankRI’s 19th location, officially opened at May 19. It is located at 290 Main Street in downtown Wakefield and represents the Bank’s expansion into South County.

“This is a special day for BankRI for many reasons,” said Mark J. Meiklejohn, President and CEO of BankRI. “Not only are we excited to have a presence here and serve the banking needs of South County residents, but as someone who has spent their entire life in South County, I know how great this community is and we’re dedicated to continuing the tradition as good corporate neighbors.”

Designed to blend with Wakefield’s historic atmosphere, the yellow two-story building has the look of a Georgian-era custom house. It consists of 4,600 square feet of space, an ATM, drive-thru banking capabilities and 16 parking spaces. It also features private offices and meeting space dedicated for BankRI commercial, business, investment and mortgage financial spets to meet individually with customers.
