BankNewport Names Senior Vice President

NEWPORT, RI – BankNewport President and CEO, Sandra J. Pattie has announced the appointment of Sharon L. Medeiros to senior vice president and controller.  She will direct and coordinate the Bank’s finance department activities, including accounts payable, general accounting, annual audits, accounting policies and procedures, regulatory reporting, in addition to research and interpretation of new accounting and regulatory pronouncements, and assisting with the annual budgeting process.

Medeiros comes to BankNewport from Mechanics Cooperative Bank in Taunton, Massachusetts, where she held various finance positions, most recently serving as vice president and controller.

Medeiros earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Elon University in North Carolina, a Master of Science in Financial Mathematics from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, a Master of Science in Management with an Accounting concentration from Bridgewater State University, and a Master of Science in Finance from Bentley University in Waltham.  She is a Certified Public Accountant.

Sharon is a member of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Financial Managers Society.  She is a resident of Taunton, Massachusetts.
