Attorney Stephen Miller Named President of the House of Hope Board of Directors

PROVIDENCE, RI — Stephen M. Miller, of the law firm of Stephen M. Miller and Associates, has been named as the new president of the House of Hope’s Board Directors at their recent annual meeting.

Miller serves in numerous capacities for the organization, which aids individuals and families with children who are homeless, with access to shelters statewide. Miller helps organize workshops devoted to helping those in need and advocates on their behalf. He said his new title comes with great responsibility.

“It is a privilege working with The House of Hope staff because of their tireless efforts to bring about the issue of homelessness in the state,” said Miller, who has practiced real estate law litigation in Rhode Island for more than three decades. “This issue affects more people than the public realizes. To be a part of this agency and aide in its mission to bring dignity and assistance to those who desperately need a hand brings awareness to this issue.”

Miller’s dedication toward “lending a hand” extends to the Rhode Island Special Olympics, the Rhode Island Coalition for the Homeless (RICOH), The Amos House and the Rhode Island Bar Association House of Delegates.

In addition to his Providence-based practice, Miller also presides as an Associate Municipal Court Judge in Lincoln. He has been recognized for his dedication to service. Miller received the RICOH “Homeless Legal Clinic Award” in 2011, speaks for the RI Bar Association Foreclosure Prevention and Guardianship and works as a RI Superior Court Settlement Week Mediator.

The Warwick-based House of Hope provides safe and stable housing that focus on individual services empowering and encouraging each individual to reach their maximum potential. Since their start 25 years ago, the organization has grown into a highly effective, outcome-oriented organization that today buys, builds, renovates and/or currently manages 18 properties. These include 116 shelter beds, 35 permanent supportive housing units, six home ownerships and six units that are in various stages of development.
