Ananke and Barton Gilman Response to Recent Data Breach

PROVIDENCE, RI – Recently, Premera exposed financial and medical records of 11,000,000 Blue Cross Blue Shield subscribers. In January, Anthem exposed names, birthdays, medical IDs, Social Security numbers, street addresses, e-mail addresses, employment information, and income data for 80,000,000 Blue Cross Blue Shield subscribers. Also, Target recently has agreed to pay $10,000,000 in a proposed settlement related to a huge 2013 data breach that compromised the personal financial information of at least 40,000,000 Targets customers.

As data breaches continue to make headlines, taking reasonable steps to secure information should be paramount. Angela Carr, Esq, Partner at Barton Gilman LLP and John Conway, President & CEO of Ananke IT Solutions tackle this issue in the most recent issue of the Rhode Island Small Business Journal.
