Alves Named Partner at Barton Gilman LLP

PROVIDENCE, RI – Rui P. Alves has been named partner at the firm effective Jan. 1.

Alves handles all aspects of domestic relations matters, including divorce and complex custody disputes, in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Mr. Alves also concentrates his practice on defending individuals charged with criminal offenses. He is a native of Portugal and speaks fluent Portuguese and Spanish. Mr. Alves is former legal counsel to the Rhode Island Senate’s Finance Committee.

Mr. Alves has been named six consecutive years by Super Lawyers as a Rhode Island Rising Star (2009-14), and is active in the community, including serving as immediate past president of the Board of Directors for Samaritans of Rhode Island.

Mr. Alves is a 2005 graduate of Roger Williams School of Law, and 1998 graduate from Northeastern University with a B.S. in Criminal Justice.

He resides in Barrington, RI, with his wife and two daughters.
