VP Fitness, New Boutique Health Club, Announces Grand Opening And Ribbon Cutting

PROVIDENCE, RI  — VP Fitness, a 13,000 sq. ft. boutique health club will hold a grand opening and ribbon-cutting at 11-2pm on April 1 at 10 Dorrance Street, in downtown Providence.  The celebration will continue in the evening from 4-9pm.

On the heels of Governor Raimondo’s budget address, Joseph Depena, the owner of VP Fitness said, “One of my primary aims in opening VP Fitness in downtown was to help reinvigorate the economy and new business development in downtown and the State.” Currently, VP Fitness employs a staff of eight people – and over the past several months during the build and construction phase, they employed many more.  As the club grows its numbers will, of course, increase. Depena continued, “As a certified Minority Business Enterprise we also hope to draw attention to the viability of efforts such as ours to work and succeed in our state.”

VP Fitness hopes to set the bar in the health and fitness area and to fill the need for the multitude of businesses and residents who live and work in Providence.  The club has all new equipment and offers a robust spectrum of classes, workout machines and stations, including yoga and Pilates, boxing, spinning, ABS, boot camp, Zumba, women’s strength and TRX.  Trainers focus on total body integration and offer individualized regimens for clients, to accommodate people with busy lifestyles and schedules.  VP Fitness is the only club in the area to offer ViPR (pronounced ‘viper’ – Vitality, Performance and Reconditioning), a program that bridges the gap between movement and strength training. The club also offers amenities not typically available in other clubs, such as sauna, massage, a “drop-off” dry cleaning/laundry, “grab and go” snacks, a natural juice bar, an espresso bar (with a barista), free towels, a lounge area with free WiFi.

Depena added, “I don’t mind reporting that opening the club has had its challenges – the West Coast dock strike delayed shipments of equipment and the snow kept UPS trucks from attending to local deliveries.”  In fact, he and his staff loaded hundreds of lockers and treadmills onto dollies and into the new space on one of those snowy days. “It has all been well worth the effort,” he continued, “and we now have a beautiful and unique health and fitness club that is accessible and affordable.”

The public is invited to the Grand Opening, which will continue throughout the day, during which the club will offer free fitness consultations, motion cage demonstrations, refreshments, promotions, and giveaways.  Drop in for an espresso!
