U.S. Small Business Administration and North Kingstown Chamber of Commerce Continue Partnership to Bring Workshops to the Small Business Community

PROVIDENCE, RI – The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will be continuing its partnership with the North Kingstown Chamber of Commerce to provide workshops and trainings to small businesses.  These workshops will cover all aspects of business from business plan writing, to social media use, government contracting, exporting, and more.

The co-sponsorship agreement was signed this morning by SBA Rhode Island District Director Mark S. Hayward and Martha Pughe, Executive Director of the North Kingstown Chamber of Commerce, and SBA resource partners Center for Women & Enterprise (CWE) and the Joseph G.E. Knight chapter of SCORE and is effective immediately.

Over a dozen workshops are already scheduled for the spring and early summer months.  The agreement will take the parties through the end of December 2016.  The partnership between The North Kingstown Chamber and SBA has been one of the most successful of its kind.

“The SBA and North Kingstown Chamber have been able to collaborate and work with our partners at CWE and SCORE to bring the small business community in both North Kingstown and the state a comprehensive offering of small business workshops and events,” said SBA District Director, Mark S. Hayward.  “In the past 14 months, we have put on over 30 workshops and seminars for small businesses as a part of our partnership with the Chamber, and we are excited to continue this partnership.”

Workshops will be held in various locations around North Kingstown, including at the Chamber itself.  “The collaborative work we do with the SBA and its partners has been a great asset to the small business community here in North Kingstown and the surrounding areas” said Martha Pughe, Executive Director of the North Kingstown Chamber of Commerce.  “As a chamber of commerce, to be able to offer high caliber classes to all of our businesses, and to those looking to start a business, it really is an invaluable resource.”

The collaboration between the North Kingstown Chamber of Commerce and SCORE has also been advantageous for local businesses.  SCORE counselors have regularly scheduled hours at the North Kingstown Chamber of Commerce that all businesses can take advantage of free of charge.  Anyone wanting to meet with a SCORE Counselor can contact the Chamber to set up an appointment.

All workshops are open to the public and preregistration is required.  For more information on workshops being offered, visit www.northkingstown.com or call (401) 295-5566.
