Third Annual Newport 10 Miler Sells Out in Record Time The June 7 event will donate $14,000 to the Fort Adams Trust

NEWPORT, RI – The Fort is full.

With three weeks still to go before the event, the Newport 10 Miler is now officially sold out. The June 7 event will feature a scenic ten-mile road race beginning and ending at historic Fort Adams. Following the race, participants over 21 years old may then enjoy a complimentary beer from Harpoon Brewery.

The race is produced by Gray Matter Marketing and proceeds for the event will benefit the Fort Adams Trust. With 2,500 participants, the race will generate a $14,000 donation to the Fort.

“We are of course excited the event sold out,” said President Matt Gray of Gray Matter Marketing. “But the fact that the race will produce a significant donation to this important Newport landmark makes the fact especially meaningful.”

Rick Nagele, Executive Director of the Fort Adams Trust, echoed this sentiment.

“The Fort Adams Trust greatly values the generosity and support of all of our supporters,” Nagele said. “This event and its donation will help our efforts, and 2,500 runners will get to experience Fort Adams in an exciting way.”

The Newport 10 Miler began in 2013 and attendance has increased each year. The race was awarded “Best Destination Race” in the Northeast in a 2014 survey by Competitor Magazine. The race was also awarded “Best Race T-shirt” in the same survey.

Fort Adams Trust a 501(c)(3) non-profit with a mission to protect and promote the historic places and public spaces at the gateway to Narragansett Bay and Newport. This includes directing and supporting the stabilization, maintenance and operation of Fort Adams as a public historic site.
