Rid Yourself of Winter-time Blues with Bike and Blues the Blackstone!

WOONSOCKET, RI- Grab your helmets and bikes, and get ready to groove -it’s time for the Blackstone Heritage Corridor, Inc.’s (BHC) 2nd Annual Bike and Blues event! This event will be taking place on May 2, 2015, and is open to people of all ages. Join the staff and partners of the BHC for a festive bike ride through the scenic and historic Blackstone River Valley. Finish off your afternoon listening to a local, live blues concert while tasting regional and draft beers at the Blackstone River Theatre.

This year cyclists have the option to ride the entire 30-mile course as part of the Craft Brewery Tour and visit three Blackstone Breweries along the way: Bucket Brewery, Foolproof Brewing Company and Ravenous Brewing Company. If 30 miles and beer is not your thing, not to worry; you can choose to take part in a leisurely ride along the historic Blackstone Canal on the 11-mile Blackstone River Bikeway. At the end of your ride, take a load off with refreshments, beer tasting and a live blues concert at the Blackstone River Theatre. Music will be performed by local band Pendragon and artists Ken Lyon and Bertrand Laurence.

Bike and Blues is more than just a fun day for the family. It is also a great opportunity for businesses to show their support of BHC which will connect communities with each other and people to the outdoors, history and culture. Sponsors of Bike and Blues for 2015 include: Blackstone Valley Tourism Council, Tony Deller, CPA and Navigant Credit Union. Your sponsorship will bring recognition to your business through a variety of print and online media products, and will introduce you to hundreds of participants, spectators and volunteers.

Registration for cyclists is $30 per person and you can register in advance by visiting our website, www.blackstoneheritagecorridor.org, and clicking the Bike and Blues link. Check-in begins at 10:30 a.m., May 2nd, at Lonsdale Marsh, 116 John’s Street in Lincoln, RI where the course starts.
