Rhody Fresh Cook-Off Brings Four RI High Schools Together For Culinary Competition

RHODE ISLAND – The Rhode Island Dairy Farms Cooperative announces its Artisan Cheese Cook-Off, a competition for Rhode Island high school culinary students that will take place at the Davies Career and Technical High School on October 29 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. The school is located at 50 Jenckes Hill Rd, Lincoln, RI 02865.

Students from four schools will call on their culinary skills to craft dishes made with the cooperative’s Rhody Fresh brand cheese and dairy products. Independent judges will award top chef honors to the school team with the best recipe based on criteria of innovation, presentation and taste. In addition, guests in attendance will vote for a People’s Choice Award winner. Admission is free and open to the public.

Student teams from four schools will compete:  Davies Career and Technical High School, Warwick Area Career and Technical Center, Chariho Career and Technical Center, and Cranston Area Career and Technical Center.

Steve Volpe, Chief Operations Officer of the cooperative, said, “Rhode Island has a well-deserved reputation for culinary excellence, plus a thriving local agriculture industry to supply the state’s creative and talented chefs. This contest is a fun way to highlight these complementary enterprises. And of course, it gives local students a chance to put their talents and creativity to the test.”
