Rhode Island Small Business Journal and The MET’s E Center to Hold First Annual Young Entrepreneur Awards

JOHNSTON, RI – Rhode Island Small Business Journal, Rhode Island’s premier business publication, is excited to announce that it has teamed up with The MET’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (The MET’s E Center) to hold the first annual Young Entrepreneur Awards.

The Young Entrepreneur Awards were created to highlight and celebrate the innovative work of high school students, college students, and recent alumni from Rhode Island. “So many Rhode Island students and alum have already made a huge impact on our small business sector, despite their age. We decided that it is finally time to recognize them for their hard work, and to thank them for pushing the future of our state in the right direction,” said Gil Lantini, founder of RISBJ.

RISBJ decided to partner with The MET School because of the school’s commitment to helping Rhode Island youth develop and grow their entrepreneurial skills. Jodie Woodruff, Director of the Met’s E Center says, “At the E Center, we work with high school entrepreneurs, teaching them to truly investigate the world around them as they design and launch profitable businesses. We foster an environment and a mindset where students are equipped to seize opportunities, solve real and relevant problems and create success for themselves.”

Nominations will be accepted online through April 10. Each nominee will be notified and asked to fill out a short application, which will be due by May 8. Our selection committee, comprised of respected members of the entrepreneurial community in Rhode Island, will then review the applications and choose the winners by May 29. Five awards will be presented in each of the age groups at an awards reception, which will take place on Thursday, July 23 at The MET School from 6-8pm. Click here to nominate someone today!

Each of the winners will also be featured in the July issue of RISBJ. Their stories will highlight their successes and celebrate their commitment to growing the small business sector in Rhode Island.
