Providence Community Library Friends’ Group to Host Last of Three Mayoral Forums

PROVIDENCE, RI – Providence Community Library (PCL) will host a “Meet the Candidates” forum at Wanskuck Library on Thursday, June 12. Candidates for Mayor of Providence will respond to questions about neighborhood issues and the audience will have an opportunity to tell candidates what they think about schools, libraries, safety, jobs and many other issues of concern to their communities.

Wanskuck Library is at 233 Veazie Street (401-274-4145). The forum will start at 6:00p.m.  The event is sponsored by PCL Friends’ groups and will be moderated by the League of Women Voters. The previous two forums, held at Knight Memorial Library and Rochambeau Library, enjoyed large turnouts.

Patricia Raub, representative of the Wanskuck Library Friends, said, “We are delighted that PCL libraries are giving our neighbors a chance to meet the candidates for next Mayor of Providence and hear their opinions on matters of importance to us.  These library forums are providing us with the opportunity to decide for ourselves whom to vote for this fall.”
