ONE Neighborhood Builders Celebrates New Housing Development: Amherst Gardens

Providence, RI (October 7, 2016) – The nonprofit community development corporation ONE Neighborhood Builders is celebrating the groundbreaking of our new housing development Amherst Gardens, our NeighborWorks Charter, a Welcome to our new Executive Director and Promotion of the Yes on 7 Housing Bond; on Friday, October 14th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.

Amherst Gardens is a $10.4 million housing project that has been in the works for several years; including a 36 residential and 2 commercial unit scattered site housing redevelopment in and for Olneyville. The Olneyville neighborhood was among the hardest hit by the foreclosure crisis. Now, instead of tolerating boarded doors and windows, Olneyville is rebounding with renovated properties offering healthy affordable apartments to 36 individuals and families. “ONE Neighborhood Builders has once again assembled an innovative and transformative project that will continue the revitalization of the Olneyville neighborhood.  And, National Equity Fund is proud to partner with ONE NB” said Tony Lyons, NEF’s senior vice president and head of East originations team. ONE NB continues its campaign to improve the neighborhood, block-by-block, making it a better place for everyone to live, for families to raise their children, and to find employment. The development provides much-needed affordable housing, and resolves long-standing areas of blight.
