Kick Off Spring with Sun, Sand and Music: Misquamicut Springfest is Back

WESTERLY, RI – The beach season is about to begin at Westerly’s Misquamicut Beach. The Fourth Annual Misquamicut Springfest weekend follows the incredible success of the past three years of festivals, which attracted over 10,000 visitors each from Rhode Island, Connecticut and nearby states. Misquamicut Springfest kicks off a jam-packed weekend of live music, rides, local food, Wrestling, BMX Stunt Bike Shows and more on Friday, May 9th at 5pm. Live music begins Friday with Undanted: Professor Harp and Neal and the Vipers Featuring Dave Howard at the Beer, Bands and BBQ tent and then two world-class BMX Stunt Bike Shows at 7 and 9.  From then, until 5pm Sunday, May 11th, SpringFest features high-gear entertainment and activities for the whole family.

Besides a full line-up of entertainment on two stages, the Springfest features an outdoor international food court and Beer, Bands and BBQ area on the pond with a bonfire, a chock-full midway of rides and games including Ferris Wheel, a petting zoo and pony rides, and two classic car shows with a $1000 cash prize raffle. New this year –“SlamFest at SpringFest” May 10th from 8-10pm. Come see the first ever 20 Man Over the Top Rope Beach Brawl Battle Royal featuring “Dynamite” Doug Summers. Join NBC 10 Chef Terranova (Host, Cooking with Class) for cooking demonstrations and the Chowder Cookoff on Saturday at 2pm.

Shop, Drink, Eat, and Much More

Over 25 New England food vendors will be on hand to serve local festival favorites from chowder to sausage and peppers, fried dough, kettle corn and seafood dishes. In addition, over 30 crafters and commercial vendors will sell their wares. Kids can enjoy henna tattoos, hair wraps, and face painting while adults can enjoy local beers at The Beer, Bands and BBQ tent on the Salt Pond at Paddy’s Beach, and craft shopping for handbags, t-shirts, jewelry, and housewares. Classic Car Shows will be held Saturday from 11 until 3 with DJ Boom. Sunday the show will take place with Gary Pom and Tribute from 11am until 3pm. People’s Choice awards and prizes. There will be a raffle with $1000 first place prize.

Continuous Music

Rock with your favorite music as Springfest bringsheadliners to the spacious Beer, Bands and BBQ Tent. Neal and the Vipers featuring Dave Howard (Roomful of Blues) kick it off Friday night. The Driftwoods (Beach Boys Tribute), Jeff Slate and the Early Roman Kings featuring Earl Slick (David Bowie Band) and Steve Holly (Wings) as well as Mr. Nick and the Dirty Tricks bring it home Saturday Night. An array of local bands including The Beach Band, Daphne Martins Band, Teen Blues sensation Aaron Norcross and Will Evans will keep the tunes flowing daily, providing non-stop music on two stages.

New this Year: WMLA presents Slamfest at Springfest

Major League Wrestling Alliance is proud to present the first annual “SlamFest at SpringFest” May 10th from 8-10pm. Come see the first ever 20 Man Over the Top Rope Beach Brawl Battle Royal featuring  “Dynamite” Doug Summers, “The Native American Powerhouse” Tomahawk, Westerly’s own Owen Graichen and more! The party kicks off an hour early with a pre show concert by local band “Happy and The Moonshine” starting at 7pm.  MLWA is a coproduction of New Shore Productions and Eternal Events bringing you the best family friendly professional wrestling in the North East.

Non-stop Family Fun

Walk the midway of world-class rides including the Ferris Wheel, Scrambler, kiddie rides and games. Little ones can visit the Circle K Petting Zoo, enjoy pony rides, and the watch the Interactive Hula Hoop Dancer. They can even enjoy a special rock wall with the National Gard. On the Westerly Hospital Stage, enjoy music from Princess Anna from the hit movie Frozen, Magic with Larry and David, Bwana Iguana Reptile adventures and much more!
