Hurd Auto Mall Ground Breaking Ceremony

Johnston, RI – June 20, 2012 – Christopher Hurd, President announces a ground-breaking ceremony for the future homes of the new “Hurd Auto Mall” in Johnston; the ceremony will take place Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 10 a.m.  Distinguished guests expected at this event include Governor Lincoln Chafee, Mayor Joseph Polisena of Johnston, and Department of Labor and Training for Rhode Island, former Lt. Governor, Charles Fogarty as well as General Motors New England Zone Manager, Don Crowder and the entire Hurd Auto Mall family.

Considered the largest General Motors dealership in New England, featuring General Motors; Chevrolet, Buick and GMC Truck, these new buildings will house Hurd Chevrolet and Hurd Buick GMC. The project will run in excess of $4 million dollars.  It will be a job generating expansion that will add 15 permanent jobs to Hurd Auto Mall, and during the construction process will employ over 100 construction tradesmen; construction is expected to begin over the summer immediately following the ground breaking.

Throughout the years, Hurd has been given many honors including the “Buick Best in Class” award and General Motors has named Hurd Automotive as its largest volume dealer in Southern New England.
