Hope & Main Companies to Serve Up ‘Bodacious’ Bites at Spelling Bee Fundraiser on March 7

WARREN, RI – The seventh annual Bodacious Bee, an adult spelling bee fundraiser for the Bristol Warren Education Foundation (BWEF), will take place on Saturday, March 7, from 5:30-8 p.m.

The Bodacious Bee is BWEF’s signature fundraising event, raising money to help the district’s schools afford a variety of materials, programs and experiences that enhance the learning community for students. This year’s theme is “Bee Inspired! An Evening of Arts and Innovation,” with Lisa Raiola, founder of Hope & Main, as honorary chairperson.

The evening will kick off with a cocktail hour and ‘Street Fair’ of food and entertainment, followed by dinner and the spelling competition. Hope & Main, a nonprofit food incubator space in Warren, will feature 11 of its entrepreneurial food producers during the appetizer hour, including Acacia Café Food Truck & Kitchen, Appetito Foods, The Backyard Food Company, Clean Cuisine and Classy Creation Foods, Essentially Coconut, Fox Point Pickling Company, Halsey & Bowen, Ocean State Smoked Fish Company, The Sconette Company, Spicy Penguin and Two Gringos. The evening will also feature a barbecue dinner by Preppy Pig BBQ, desserts by The CupCake Contessas and Laughing Gull Chocolates, coffee from Simone’s, cash bar, live auction, raffle, trophies and other surprises.

Sponsored by Jaffee Orthodontics in Barrington, Rhode Island, proceeds from the event will benefit BWEF’s efforts to provide supplementary funding to teachers and staff for innovative programs that enhance and enrich students’ educational experience, and that are outside the scope of existing school budgets. This year, BWEF awarded more than $52,000 in grants, with funds supporting areas including math, science, history, performing arts, foreign language, nature exploration, physical education, special education and emerging technology.
