What is gender bias? How could it be affecting me in my community, at school and at work? Could I actuallyhave an unconscious gender bias that is negatively impacting friends and colleagues?

If these are questions that intrigue you, plan to attend the Women’s Fund of RI’s first workshop in a series about gender inequity in our state and ways to reduce its impact in everyday interactions.

During this interactive and engaging evening we will explore this silent, but potentially devastating effect on the everyday conversations and communication we have with others. You will have the opportunity to hear from several leaders who will share their story, not only about a personal experience of gender bias, but will also offer how they have learned to minimize the effect of gender bias in their interactions. We will share some eye-opening facts about the impact of gender inequity and bias in our state, as well as communication strategies and additional resources that can take home to help you and others build effective strategies.

You will also have the opportunity to share your experiences and listen to those of others while offering and applying useful methods to mitigate the negative effects. Finally, we will ask you to complete a short confidential assessment that will uncover any gender bias that you may not be aware of so that you can begin to communicate more effectively.

If this sounds like a valuable use of two hours, please plan on attending our September workshop and bring a friend!

Entry is $15/per person.
