About the artists:

Gail Ahlers founded Ahlers Designs in 1989 and collaborates closely with each and every client to create original, significant art that honors special occasions for timeless authenticity. Cindy Wilson has been making photographs of Rhode Island since 1976. She chooses her native turf as subject for her fine images such as windswept landscapes and moody seascapes serve as rugged backdrops for quiet studies of architecture contemplated in unexpected perspectives. After losing her father to breast cancer, Shelia Newquist Turner was inspired in 2012 to resume exploring her creative gift. Her father was an accomplished photographer who had not pursued his passion in full until his (short) retirement. While supported by her family, local artist, Susan Shaw, mentored Shelia. Since resuming art, Sheila’s focus has been watercolor, though she plans to resurrect past interests in pastels and charcoal. Her style is representational.

“Painting from my heart is my lesson in how live in this world. The experience of putting a thought or a feeling into a brush and paint on paper is exhilarating. I realize the muse of inspiration is only the beginning. As I let go of restraints of my own design, I am now a co-creator of this experience. And while I influence this or that, the this or that also surprises me in ways I never expected. This process of listening to a muse, feeling it, dancing with it, choosing colors, brushes, etc. and then letting go. The colors change before my eyes, things happen. When I allow the flow, then, it all comes together.” – Joya Maxwell
