Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Launches New Pharmacy Division; Appoints Glen Bianchini as Chief Pharmacy Officer

Villanova, PA – April 13, 2020 – Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health, one of the nation’s oldest and largest nonprofit providers of behavioral healthcare, today announced the launch of a new, integrated pharmacy aimed at improving overall safety and quality for the individuals it serves, and as a means to increase the salaries of its front-line staff.

“Devereux’s multiphase organizational redesign effort, along with its strategic plan, included the creation of an integrated pharmacy division to enhance our programs and services, and support our organization’s long-standing and deep-rooted mission to unlock and nurture human potential for people living with emotional, behavioral and cognitive differences,” said Devereux President and CEO Carl E. Clark II. “Our new pharmacy division will be built upon the strong foundation and success of our Devereux Texas pharmacy, established in 1992, which is currently under the direction of Executive Director Pam Reed.”

By taking this innovative approach to pharmacy operations, Clark noted, “We will: 1) enrich Devereux’s medication management services and clinical/regulatory excellence across all campuses; and 2) recapture dispensing fees, enabling us to redirect savings into our ongoing initiative to increase the salaries of front-line staff, including direct support professionals and supervisors.”

Lip Syncing for a Cause Event bringing hope for seniors

There may not be a better feeling than pretending to be someone—or something—else. Children often do that hoping to become that as adults. There is no shortage of imagination or using the mind to for its creativity and illusion.

So, when a group of long-term care employees are gearing up for a night of fun and entertainment—that features costume changes, makeup and acting out their musical fantasies—that means the Fourth Annual Lip Sync Battle is coming to not only please the crowd, but to raise funds to grant wishes for those residents they care for in the nursing facilities statewide!

Negative Leadership, Lacking the Traits.

Years ago, I transferred out of a department where the manager was a leadership failure. In fact, he was considered a poor leader by the senior leadership team. Unfortunately, due to his strong political alliances, he was able to keep his job and survive. There are many known traits of a leader, some are defined by theorists, and this person lacked every single one. Trait theory defines five key attributes of a leader: Capacity, Achievement, Responsibility, Participation, and Status. Let’s agree to take some literary license here and call him “Bob Blank”.

Capacity:   Bob Blank lacked the basic qualities for capacity as a leader. When presented with challenges to solve, he consistently sought inward looking solutions. When offered alternatives, his pattern was to either ignore it or alter the solution so that it no longer resembled the original idea. He often did not pay attention to details. When told of a large group moving into a facility under his control, he thought the information was a joke, and actually laughed. He consistently ignored other commonplace problems, such as staffing, until they became so out of control, they were brought to the attention of the VP.

Achievement:   Bob Blank’s leadership achievements are suspect.  Bob’s degree has nothin g to do with his career path, and it is not clear how that degree qualifies him for the roles he held in Business Development or Finance. As far as subject matter expertise, it quickly became apparent that he lacked basic understanding of new business acquisition. He consistently requested that he be provided with many examples of job descriptions, status charts, and many other materials. His “knowledge” proved to be very limited.

Knead Doughnuts Expands Into Former Pilotworks Space; Invests in New Small Businesses

Providence, RI – Knead Doughnuts has expanded their donut production into a 5,000-square-foot commercial kitchen previously operated by the food incubator Pilotworks, now called Providence Kitchen Collaborative. With the capacity to handcraft even more gourmet doughnuts, Knead will be at more farmers markets, serve more weddings, and craft more special seasonal flavors. A third donut shop is slated to open at their new production space this spring.

With a significantly larger commercial kitchen, Knead is now able to give back and support several budding food businesses by leasing them commercial kitchen space. “We are humbled to be able to support Providence’s dynamic food scene” said Knead co-founder Adam Lastrina. “All these businesses were right where we were two years ago.”

The new location at Providence Kitchen Collaborative is already home to all of Knead’s doughnut production, as well as seven food entrepreneurs leasing commercial kitchen access from Knead, including Brown Paper Bounty, Vic’s Handcrafted Ice Cream, and Long Live Beerworks, which will operate a brewery and bar just steps from Knead. Inquire about leasing kitchen space here.

Knead plans a grand opening of its new donut shop at Providence Kitchen Collaborative, which will be open on weekends and select evenings, in May 2019. Follow updates on Knead’s lively Facebook and Instagram pages.

The award-winning gourmet doughnut shop opened its first Providence location, at 32 Custom House, in December 2016. A second Providence storefront opened in April 2018 at 135 Elmgrove Avenue. To learn more about Knead Doughnuts, visit kneaddoughnuts.com.
