Bristol Small Business Workshop Series Continues

NEWPORT, R.I. – BankNewport is pleased to be among the co-sponsors of the 2014 Town of Bristol Small Business Workshop Series, designed to provide free, innovative and practical information to local small business owners.  The Rhode Island District Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration initiated the co-sponsorship with BankNewport, along with the Town of Bristol, the Center for Women and Enterprise, SCORE, People’s Credit Union, and the East Bay Chamber of Commerce.The workshop series kicked off on May 22.

Each workshop is conducted in an informal environment, encompassing valuable topics related to small business ownership.  Recent sessions have covered an A to Z guide to financing a business, tactical marketing, government contracting, an introduction to the 8(a) business development program, and a guide to resources for small business owners.

“Through the workshop series, small business owners will discover new opportunities and resources to help them navigate the unique challenges and financial needs to operate their business successfully,” stated BankNewport President & CEO, Sandra J. Pattie.  “BankNewport is proud to co-sponsor the series, and we are equally proud of the Bank’s long history of helping the Rhode Island small business community to grow and prosper, knowing the results will create and retain jobs, build strong communities, and benefit the economic foundation of our State.  I encourage all small business owners to attend.”

Eight more workshops are scheduled throughout the fall, with topics to include rebuilding credit, accounting for non-accountants, social media marketing, power networking, managing business risk, and financing options for buying or expanding commercial real estate.
