Boy Scouts Collect Donated Food This Saturday, Rain or Shine
RISBJ Staff | Oct 29, 2014
PROVIDENCE, RI
What: Boy Scouts across Rhode Island will be collecting donated food items in neighborhoods throughout the state for the Rhode Island Community Food Bank and local food pantries as part of the 27th annual “Scouting for Food” drive. Last year, Scouts collected over 110 tons of food.
The media is invited to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank to see a caravan of Scouts from surrounding towns drop off thousands of pounds of donated food. Great visuals of Scouts unloading food, volunteers sorting food, and parents pulling up with cars filled with food from their neighborhoods.
There will be opportunities to speak with participating Scouts, troop leaders and representatives from the Narragansett Council, Boy Scouts of America, and the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. The media is encouraged to take photos and/or video.
