After a Month of Stormy Weather, Restaurant Owner Launches Initiative to Give Back; Offers Veterans Free Lunch Once a Month

DEDHAM, MA – Fred Zagami owner of Salem Food Market in Dedham is giving back to veterans in a unique way in hopes to make a significant impact on hundreds, of veterans.

Effective immediately, the first Tuesday of every month, Salem Food Market will be offering FREE lunch to all veterans, active or inactive.

Fred Zagami, an Army veteran who served 8 years and a tough combat tour in Panama, and whose cousin is a PTSD patient and was one of the reasons the Home Base program was initially founded, thinks it’s important to give back to those who fight for our country and freedoms.

Even with the recent snow storms, and the significant decrease in business revenue regionally due to the weather the last month, Zagami is hopeful that this will start a chain reaction for other businesses to take part in thanking Veterans in general, not just on remembrance days. Salem Food Market lost thousands of dollars alone just in revenue over the past 3 weeks just from weather alone.

This is not Salem Food Markets first effort at giving back. Zagami is known for donating food to every cause possible, offering free lunches on 9/11 to all public safety workers, free lunch to any & all veterans on Veterans Day, and his strong support of DorkStrong, a non profit created in his good friend, Mike Kennedy, a Boston Fire Fighter who was killed in a Back Bay fire this past March.

Free lunch is offered thru the hours of 12pm-2pm.

“I want my brothers and sisters in arm to know that I haven’t forgotten their sacrifice that they make/made each and every day. I also want to show my daughter how important it is to give back to those who constantly provide our country with security, and freedom.” Zagami said.
